 Skype is running, SkypeMate icon on system tray still shows the phone is green and the outside is grey.
You have selected the wrong option when you installed SkypeMate (the phone's driver). Go to "Tools > Options > Privacy > 'Manage other programs' access to Skype". Select the correct option, click the "Change" button to open the "Manage API Access Control" windows, and make another selection.
Instead of the USB Skype Phone, the PC's sound card works when I make/answer a call.
Go to "Tools->Options->Sound Devices" on your Skype page and open the window, Set "Audio In" and "Audio Out" to "USB Audio Device".

When I make a SkypeOut call, I can't press "dial" key on USB phones to call out, but I can press the big green dial key on Skype to call out.
Please update the driver to 3.0.1.33 or above. You don't need to press country code with new driver when you make a SkypeOut call.

After installing SkypeMate software on a machine running Windows ME, I get the following alert: A required .DLL, MFC42U.DLL was not found and the program doesn' start.
SkypeMate doesn't support windows 98/ME.

It is because your skype parameter "CloseToTray" have been set to FLASE. Please download and run file Skypefix.exe, it will close Skype, and modify parameter "CloseToTray", then you can startup skype. It should work well then.
