Qu'est-ce qu'un téléphone VoIP ?

Un téléphone VoIP, abréviation de Voice over Internet Protocol phone, est un appareil téléphonique spécialement conçu pour passer et recevoir des appels via une connexion Internet plutôt qu'une ligne téléphonique conventionnelle ou analogique. Les téléphones VoIP convertissent la voix de l'utilisateur en signaux numériques qui sont transmis via Internet pour atteindre un autre téléphone VoIP ou un numéro de téléphone ordinaire n'importe où dans le monde.


Les téléphones VoIP peuvent varier en apparence et en fonctionnalités, ressemblant souvent aux téléphones de bureau traditionnels mais avec des fonctionnalités supplémentaires activées par la connectivité Internet. Ils disposent de matériel et de logiciels intégrés qui prennent en charge les protocoles de téléphonie IP, ce qui leur permet de s'enregistrer auprès d'un fournisseur de services VoIP et de communiquer avec d'autres points de terminaison IP.

Fonctionnalités avancées : les téléphones VoIP sont souvent dotés d'une gamme de fonctionnalités qui ne sont pas standard sur les téléphones traditionnels, telles que la transcription de la messagerie vocale vers un courrier électronique, le transfert d'appel, la vidéoconférence, l'appel en attente, l'identification de l'appelant, etc.


Compatibilité SIP : de nombreux téléphones VoIP utilisent le protocole SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) pour lancer, maintenir et terminer des sessions multimédia. Ce protocole permet l'interopérabilité entre différents systèmes VoIP.


Power Over Ethernet (PoE) : certains téléphones VoIP peuvent être alimentés directement par un câble Ethernet, ce qui simplifie l'installation et réduit le besoin de prises électriques séparées.
