Half Duplex is a transmission format. Using the same transmission line for both receiving and sending, data can be transmitted in both directions, but both communicating parties cannot send and receive data at the same time. This transmission method is half-duplex.

In data communication, data transmission methods on the line can be divided into three types: simplex communication, half-duplex communication and full-duplex communication.

The difference between half duplex and full duplex:

Full duplex mode (full duplex) refers to a transmission method in which both communicating parties can perform sending and receiving operations at the same time when the sending and receiving of data are split and transmitted by two different transmission lines. In full-duplex mode, each end of the communication system is equipped with a transmitter and a receiver, so data can be controlled to be transmitted in both directions at the same time. Full-duplex mode does not require direction switching, so there is no time delay caused by switching operations, which is very beneficial for interactive applications that cannot have time delays (such as remote monitoring and control systems). For example, among communication products, walkie-talkies are a typical example of half-duplex; telephones are a full-duplex application. For example, Yealink's full range of VoIP phones and video conferencing phones adopt full-duplex mode. While using duplex for convenient communication, they also use intelligent noise cancellation technology to effectively avoid full-duplex noise interference.
